I meant to write this post a few days ago, but time got away from me like it typically does. This week has been a crazy one. I am exhausted and I am reaching the point in the semester where due dates are piling up, and classes are seemingly getting harder. But rather than talk about school (because that’s boring, and stressing me out) I want to reflect on my weekend and the highlights of my week thus far because there is a lot that I am happy about.
Last weekend I was able to go back home to Tampa for a few days. It was a last-minute decision I made upon finding out that one of my favorite teachers from my high school years was going to be in Florida for a few days. I was able to pick her up from the airport, and go to lunch with her. It was great to be able to catch up, and spend time with her while she was here. If you want to hear more about that visit stay tuned for next week’s Odyssey post. I wrote it all about my visit with her, and it’s awesome 🙂
Also during my weekend at home, I was able to go to the aquarium for a few hours with my God daughter. It had been a while since I had been able to see her. I’m not going to lie, sometimes it’s really hard being a Godparent while still in college, because I am not in the same city as Adeline most of the time. I always am thinking of her, and praying for her. I love the chances I get to talk to her on the phone even if it is only a few minutes because hearing about her day makes me smile. I was lucky on Sunday to hangout with her for a few hours before I had to come back to school. She is growing up so much, and I always cherish the time I get to see her. The aquarium was handing out candy to the kids because it was a few days before Halloween so that was a lot of fun to be able to see her get so excited about going up to the people and saying “trick or treat”. Granted, I got sent home with half of the candy since Addy is allergic to dairy. After we were all done, it was time for me to head back to school. I was saying goodbye to Adeline and loving on her because I knew I was going to have to go a little while before seeing her again, and as I was telling her how much I love her she stopped and got down and went over to where some shells were. She picked up a shell from the parking lot ground, and handed it to me and said ” here Auntie Taylor, thank you for playing with me today.” I teared up a little, and my heart was filled with so much joy and love. I still have that little shell from my god-daughter in my car, and whenever I look at it I smile and remember who I got it from. I am so blessed to play such a big role in this little girls life, and I can’t wait to get to see her again when I go home for the holidays.
Yesterday was Halloween, not that really means anything to me since I am in college and pretty much did homework all day, but I did still get to dress up. My creativity crept through this week as Olivia and I were trying to figure out what to dress up as for the Halloween party we were going to. We were laying on the couch on Monday afternoon trying to think of what we could do that required no money. We finally decided that it would be fun to dress up as twins for the day. We realized that we both had a denim shirt and black leggings. Boom. We were going to make this happen. On Tuesday morning, I got up and started getting ready to be a twin for the day. I got dressed, did some of my makeup, and let Olivia do the rest. She wears winged eyeliner a lot of the time so she accepted the challenge of giving me winged eyeliner for the sake of our costume. It took a while, but after trial and error we got it looking good enough. We had our hair up the same, and we were also wearing the same jewelery. The twins were ready to conquer the day. We pulled it off pretty well, since we invested so much time into it. We walked into our Halloween party looking pretty identical. It was fun to be able to dress up, even if it was only with stuff we found around our closets.
I know this blog post had no direction whatsoever, but I hope you still enjoyed it! Next week I wil be back with a theme!
Have a great weekend!
